Skill Level: Intermediate Knitting
The Felix Socks combine an intuitive lace panel with simple ribbing for a beautiful and practical sock that is not only fun to knit but fits well and is comfortable to wear.
This sock is knit toe up, with a short row heel that is enjoyable and quick to knit. The pattern includes 3 different sizes, so there’s a size to fit everyone!
Materials
300-400m sock yarn/fingering weight yarn/4 ply yarn
2.5mm (1.5US) circular needle for Magic Loop. (Or double pointed needle/9” circular needles - See Special Notes)
Gauge/Tension
-8sts per 2.5cm (1”) in Stocking Stitch, correct gauge/tension is essential to the success of this pattern, so don’t hesitate to go up or down a needle size to obtain correct gauge/tension. If your gauge/tension is dramatically different your socks may be too big or too small.
Sizes
The Felix Socks can be made in 3 different sizes. The ribbing along the sides of the instep and around the back of the leg makes this a very stretchy sock that will conform nicely to accommodate various size feet. To help you choose the best size for your feet, if you usually make 56st socks, choose Small, if you usually make 64st socks, choose Medium, and if you usually make 72st socks, choose Large.
Below measurements are approximate, foot circumference of finished sock, slightly stretched, but will easily stretch much further. Length is customisable.
Small-18cm (7”) Medium-20cm (7 3/4”) Large-22.5cm (9”)
Important Pattern Notes
The Felix Socks are knit Toe Up, with a short Row Heel. This pattern is written for three different sizes. The toe and heel instructions are given with all 3 sizes together, with the smallest size first, and larger sizes in parentheses. Where only one set of instructions or numbers is given this applies to all sizes.
The foot and leg sections are written individually for each size.
This pattern is written with the Magic Loop method in mind, but can easily be adapted to
be worked on double pointed needles or 9” circular needles.
