You’ll find Crumbz Craft in the Main Street in Healesville, in Victoria’s Yarra Valley - a beautiful high street shop full of gorgeous haberdashery, stocking an impressive selection of national and international brands of yarn, thread, needles, patterns and fabrics. Our staff are knowledgeable crafters who enjoy assisting our customers with advice and guidance – and if we don’t stock what you’re looking for, we are happy to order items in for people wherever possible.

We’re open seven days a week so you can shop at your convenience, and we offer a wide range of workshops for kids and adults and specialise in private lessons for those wanting to learn to knit, hook or sew from scratch or fine tune their skills. Our online store enables shoppers throughout Australia to purchase their crafting supplies and when you spend over $150, we ship for free.

Meet Kay Trembath, Owner of Crumbz Craft

In 2010 I left the city and corporate life behind and moved to the beautiful town of Healesville, in Victoria's Yarra Valley. Before leaving Melbourne, my love of fabrics had been instrumental in me setting up a small online business with my mum, designing and making aprons and gardening gloves in contemporary fabrics under our own label – Crumbz.

When I moved to Healesville, the nearest sewing shop was a good 20-minute drive away, so I quickly saw a need in the area for a contemporary haberdashery shop – a shop that would sell gorgeous fabrics, inspiring yarns and unique handmade gifts. The sum of my retail knowledge came from my absolute love of shopping, so armed with that and a willingness to give it a go, I decided to embrace my love of crafty things, be guided by what my customers needed and opened our first store in 2011.

9 years on and Crumbz has a wonderful team of talented staff, all of whom are accomplished crafters, and we continue to build the business according to our customers’ needs. Over the years we’ve become a creative hub hosting regular craft events, knitting clubs, lessons and workshops. And I get to satisfy my retail therapy by sourcing high quality fabrics, yarns and designer patterns for the modern crafter. Alison Boyd - Our Knitting Teacher

Alison was taught to knit by her mother who was an absolute stickler for getting every stitch exactly right, resulting in her having to undo or redo her work, which miraculously didn’t put her off, in fact it inspired a lifetime's love of the art of knitting. Alison designs her own patterns for Crumbz Craft and is always working on a multitude of projects in addition to helping others with theirs.

A natural teacher, Alison has a faithful following who cast on ‘Alison’s way’ and love her guidance in lessons and at Knit, Hook & Natter held on a Thursday night in the craft room. She records lessons on you tube – so she can share her tips and secrets that have been handed down through generations, to a wide reaching audience.

Anneke Schagen - Our Sewing Teacher

Anneke’s mother was a seamstress and as a young child Anneke would use any left-over pieces of fabric to make clothes for her dolls. By the age of eight, she could unpick her sister's skirts and remake them into ones for herself! And that was the start of her love affair with dress-making.

She learned to sew professionally and in the 1990s ran her own sewing business making garments for clients. During that time she worked for Myer, doing customer alterations, which was great experience and quite a learning curve; each garment had to look exactly the same after the alteration as it did before!

Anneke now enjoys sewing, knitting and crochet as a hobby. It is something she always gravitates to when she wants some “me-time” finding it very therapeutic and loves crafting with others.

Our Crochet Teacher - Shara Lambeth

Shara studied visual arts at Monash Uni where she majored in photography and developed her textile design skills. She has her own knitwear design company Shara Lambeth Designs and teaches crochet, knitting and needle felting at Crumbz Craft. Shara’s main focus is crochet design which is having its hay day again thanks to the recent craft revival.

She also loves knitting and sewing and creating her own jewellery and clothes.

She is our ‘go to’ Crochet expert so if you would like to learn to crochet or have a project you’d like to discuss with Shara, come in and say hello.

Samantha Green - Our Patchwork Teacher

Sam runs For the Love of Fabric and lives in Healesville. A self confessed lover (hoarder) of fabric she designs patchwork quilt patterns many of which have been featured in magazines, such as her Prairie quilt, which was featured in the January issue of Homespun magazine.

She has been teaching quilting with us at Crumbz since 2012 and we stock her quilt patterns too. If you’d like to have a patchwork lesson, learn how to cut fabric, are stuck with a pattern or quilt, want to understand a technique further, or perfect your 1/4" seams, trim blocks to exact sizes, or design and create your own quilt – book a lesson with Sam.

Helen Collier - our PR Guru

Just Words is a local PR firm who have managed our PR since 2012 and we love being in their capable hands. Helen oversees all our copy at Crumbz, as well as managing our online presence, always ensuring we look and sound good.

It has been exciting working with her over the years to build our profile, and to see our brand get featured in the national press and magazines and to be approached by the media, rather than to have to chase them!
