We are excited to again be hosting crochet crafter extraordinaire and author Shelley Husband, of Spincushions at Crumbz Craft over the weekend of 4/5 April 2020. On the Saturday you'll get the chance to meet Shelley, get a signed copy of her new book "Siren's Atlas", and take a workshop or two. On the Sunday she'll be taking a third workshop to crochet the Koro Scarf/Shawl specifically designed by Shelley for our workshop weekend. Below are the full details of the workshops and the High Tea with Shelley.

Workshop #1 - Reading Crochet Patterns and How to join Granny Squares
Duration: 3 hours, 9 am - 12 noon Saturday 4 April $98

Class description : If you know how to crochet a granny square but don’t know how to read patterns and charts or how to join them, this class is for you. You’ll learn how to crochet a simple solid granny square by working with a written pattern and chart. Then, we’ll look at ways to join squares, even those with different stitch counts.

Prior Skills : Can crochet a Granny Square
Skill level : Adventurous Beginner
Materials : 8 ply yarn, a 4mm hook, yarn needle, scissors and enthusiasm. Bring along your piles of granny squares waiting for joining! Please note, materials are not supplied in workshop fee. 
Class outline :
• learn about alternative starting methods
• learn how to crochet a solid granny square following a written pattern
• learn how to crochet a different solid granny square following a chart
• learn how to join granny squares
• discuss alternative ways to begin new colour dependent on pattern
• discuss blocking
• discuss and try seamless methods, such as false treble stitch
Class handouts :
• written pattern and chart for 2 similar, but different stitch count solid granny squares.

Workshop #2 - Siren's Atlas Workshop
Duration: 3 hours, 1 - 4 pm Saturday 4 April $98

Class description : Over a fun 3 hours learn how to make 3 granny squares from Shelley's new book Siren’s Atlas. All named after oceans and seas of the world, these super fun new granny squares will teach you new skills and techniques, taking your crochet skills to the next level.
Prior Skills : Can crochet granny squares and read patterns or charts
Skill level : Intermediate
Materials : 8 ply yarn in a gradient of 4 colours, a 4mm hook, yarn needle, scissors and enthusiasm. Please note, materials are not supplied in workshop fee.
Class outline :
• Learn how to crochet the 3 granny squares from Siren’s Atlas book. Pacific, Cortes and Persian
• discuss and try seamless methods, such as false starting stitches
• discuss and try alternative starting methods
learn how to join the squares seamlessly.
Class handouts :
• written and charted patterns for 3 granny squares included in Siren’s Atlas

Workshop #3 -  Koro Pattern Workshop from Shelley's Siren's Atlas book 
Duration: 3 hours, 10 - 1 pm Sunday 5 April $98

Class description : Over a fun 3 hours learn how to make the Koro pattern from Siren’s Atlas which makes a great autumn wrap or scarf.
Perfect for colour chaining yarn, the same pattern used repeatedly will make a stunning light weight, yet warm addition to your wardrobe. Shelley will teach you all you need to know to make the wrap successfully, including how to join the squares.
Prior Skills : Can crochet a traditional granny square
Skill level : Adventurous Beginner
Materials : 1/2 balls of Lang Dipinto 4 ply in your choice of colour, 3.5 mm hook, yarn needle, scissors and enthusiasm. Please note, materials are not supplied in workshop fee. 
Class outline :
• Learn how to crochet the Koro pattern
• discuss and try seamless methods, such as false starting stitches
• discuss and try alternative starting methods
• learn how to join the squares seamlessly.
Class Handouts :
• written pattern and chart for the Koro Pattern and instructions to make the Koro wrap or scarf.

Add - High Tea at the Cherry Tree Café with Shelley
Duration: 2 - 4 pm Sunday 5 April $50

Join us for High Tea at the Cherry Tree Café to wrap up our weekend of crochet with Shelley. The Cherry Tree do an amazing high tea with lots of yummy treats washed down with a glass of bubbles and endless cups of hot tea. The perfect way to relax and enjoy some social time with Shelley.
